Okay wow hey so I'm a total piece of $hit for not finding a way to tell you this sooner but the Kik app on my phone got completely f//cked which is why I never kik either you or Brianna anymore (terrible, I know,) and I had to delete the app from my phone and lost the login info. (I'm sure it's somewhere but I have no access to it as of recent.) But after that I felt like a terrible person for never telling either of you so I kept putting it off, and it's been months and I'm a horrible person and I know I could've used Witty or even Tumblr but I didn't because I am a little $hit, but even that's no excuse so I just wanted to say sorry for all of that and dropping off the face of the Earth unexpectedly and that I miss you two. You don't have to forgive me or anything but I figured I had to give some sort of explanation at one point or another, so. (Also it's Anna as in annaisaninja77 or EastJesusNowhere [or whatever my kik username was] if you hadn't realized by now.)

It was funny though, I could go hours non stop talking to her but when we actually had to use our voices and stuff it was... awkward. It's funny, you can know someone so, so well and still be so casual around them but when it comes to real face to face stuff it's so different, but still the best. You get to see them as a person, not just words on a a screen or page.

I remember when the quoted would have 1000-2000 faves, like the "top this week/month" would have 3000 sometimes but even then there was still so much drama and about 1/8 ofthe quotes were original, and ppeople then posted little diary update things to, noone would notice them bc they'd never get faves but still

To be honest, I don't think quotes are the problem. Many people have just left Witty, and we haven't been getting many new people. I remember when I joined Witty, a top quote would have 600-700 faves. And when you think about it, less than 100 people on Witty are active anymore.

I'm guilty of using this website as a means of getting advice, I'll admit it, but that's not what it's meant for.
This is a place for QUOTES.
Every time someone comments on a vent or opinion someone posts with "Witty is a place to express yourself and post whatever you want" I get SO mad because no. That's not true. That's not what this is.
This is a quote website, not a journal.

yeah i remember first joining and 100 faves was barely anything and all the top quotes were original and had around 1000-2000 faves. i know it's not against the rules but it still annoys me a lot when people get those funny text post things from tumblr. like some are really funny and i fave them anyway but most of them i look at with a straight face cause i've already seen them 3 times on my dashboard and it's just gotten to the point where it's dumb when i see it on here. and being that they usually get the most faves/top quotes i feel like alot of people only post the tumblr quotes for faves only. as steve said himself--"Witty is not about fake internet points." i used to steal from text posts a lot myself but then i realized how dumb it was to do it. i'd rather get a top quote from my own joke rather than someone else's, because it's proving the original poster is funny, not you. once again i know it isn't against the rules but this is just how i feel and it p.isses me off

I totally agree. Right now, getting 200 likes is a big deal. Before, though, that was nothing. I think people think the only way to get a top quote is to take one from other websites because they think that we don't go on there or something.. It feels like no one has any needs to like a quote

That used to be a very low number. To even get on the last top quote (of page 1) you'd need to have 700 at least, on a slow day.

It's very easy to get a top quote now. I've seen quotes that have like, 19 faves, but over 50 comments that are already there. Why is this happening?

Want to know what's happening? People are either too lazy to be original or they just don't respect what the real and true purpose of this website. And every single day newcomers are going to praise the witty famous people for non-originality cause they have no idea what this website used to be like.

I think that comment should be right on the front of the About Witty page, because that is actually 500% exactly what's happening. I think that also, many of the top quoters and the Witty famous have realized what was happening (circa mid 2012) and
1) conformed, further progressing this drop into unoriginality and (etc.), or
2) have dropped Witty all together, again doing the same exact thing.
This leaves all the newcomers ((As you said)) with the expectation that this is just a website to carry things from Tumblr onto, and whenever someone tries to tell someone else that that is not the case, someone gets all defense.
I propose that we put all of Witty into one big room and hand someone a mic and they keep talking until everyone gets it. (And the people who don't will be thrown into the pit of fire.)

Exactly. Someone made an account attacking a bunch of Witty famous people for jocking quotes and Steve stood up for them saying how it's okay to take quotes from other social websites. But I think that in his heart he know that this website is not the same as it used to be a couple years ago. We're all just hoping for a miracle.
