Chapter 30
Carson's POV:
The next morning I woke up, my heart still
broken. I looked at my alarm clock on my nightstand; 10:30. Emily
would be up. I jumped out of bed and grabbed my jacket. I had to
go see Emily. I had to make things right.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
I pulled up to Emily’s house and walked up the walkway. My knuckles hit the door and a few seconds later Jaden opened it up.
“Hey Jad. Is Emily home?”
He gave a small smile. “Um, yeah. She’s upstairs.” He opened the door wider to let me in. I started to walk in when he put his hand out to stop me. “Um, Carson, Emily came home yesterday and it looked like she was crying. Do you know why?” He asked protectively.
“Oh, um, yeah. Im going to talk to her now about what happened.”
He hesitated, but nodded. “Okay…”
I brushed by him and headed up the stairs. When I reached Emily’s door I could hear her sniffling on the other end.
“Em? C-can I come in?” I asked cautiously. She didn’t answer so I slowly walked in. She was sitting on her bed, her knees pulled into her chest, dry tears covering her face. I sat down next to her and lightly draped my arm over her shoulder. “Can we talk about last night?” I asked. She rested her head on my shoulder and gave a tiny nod.
“What do you want to talk about?” She whispered.
I paused. “Why’d you say no?”
“Do you really want to know?” She asked licking her lips and turned towards me, lifting her head off my shoulder. I nodded. “Carson, you’re my absolute best friend in the world. I love you with all my heart, maybe even a little more than friends, but I don’t want to risk losing you. If we went out and then broke up, I’d not only be heart broken, but I would of lost my best friend too. You’ve always been there for me, Carson, and I can’t risk losing that.”
When she finished I pulled her into a hug, inhaling her scent. “Emily, you could never lose me. If we broke up we could go right back to where we were or where ever you want to go, we could forget the entire thing if you wanted. I would never leave you and I don’t want to leave you either. I love you, Emily, and I just want you to be mine.”
She was quiet for a moment, a small smile stuck on her face, before she spoke up. “Yes,” She said quietly.
I looked at her confused. “What?” I asked.
“Yes, I’ll be your girlfriend.”
A huge grin spread across my face. “You will?”
“Yes,” She nodded.
I pulled her into another tight hug. “I love you, Emily.” I breathed.
“I love you too, Carson.”
