Just Another
Winter
Chapter
Twenty-Three:
Taylor's
POV:
“Where
the hell are we?” Ronnie asked.
“Your house.” I said as if it was obvious.
“This is not my house.” She said looking around at
the charred rubble.
“Yeah it is... six months from now.” I said. It
was wierd doing this.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“you killed yourself that night. You’re dad found you
and uh...” I said stuttering. I knew what happened. How...
I don’t really know, but I knew. “He went nuts. He
killed your mother... and burned down the house to get rid of the
evidence.” I explained. Her head snapped up and she looked
at me.
“What... why?!” She screeched, tears in her eyes.
“He loved you. He just lost it sometimes... and
that’s what happened there. He lost it... and your mother
was the target.” I told her with regret in my voice. I felt
bad, but this was truthfully her decision.
“Mom...” she mumbled.
“Come on.” I said and grabbed her hand. I closed my
eyes and when I opened them again we were in a prison cell. In
front of us were paramedics zipping up a body bag and another one
putting a sheet into a bag.
“Who’s...” she gulped. “Who’s in
the body bag?” she asked hesitantly.
I stighed and turned her around. On the wall ‘I love you
both’ was carved in. I he had broken a pipe and carved it
in before hanging himself.
“It’s my Dad...” she sighed, tears freely
falling down her face.
“He did love you. It hurt too much when you were
gone.” I said slowly. She remained silent as her father was
carried out of the cell. “One last place.” I said and
grabbed her hand again.
This time when I opened my eyes we were in the school.
“Oh my God is that Hannah?!” she asked talking about
a black haired girl walking through the hallway with her head
down. I nodded.
“What is wrong with her?” she asked.
“She thinks its her fault. You two never made up from your
fight last week. The last thing she said to you was ‘I hope
you drop dead’. She feels guilty.” Ronnie
watched after Hannah who was normally wearing nice makeup and
dressed neatly and fashionably with great hair. Now she was
wearing sweat pants and an oversized hoodie and her hair was a
wreck.
“She was my best friend. It wasn’t her fault.”
Ronnie mumbled.
“How would she know? You aren’t here to tell her that
anymore.” I told her seriously.
“How did I know you’d find away to make me feel like
an idiot?” she said before holding her head in her
hands.
“Because you are being an idiot. And I’m just that
awesome.” I said sarcastically. I could tell she wanted to
laugh, but she couldn’t.
“Take me home please.” She asked. “I
won’t do it. But you have to help it get better.” She
said.
“Are you negotiating with me?” I asked.
She sighed and shook her head. “No, I’m asking.
Please Taylor. I need your help.” She asked me
ernestly.
“Say I’m the greatest.” I said with a wink. She
gave me a look. “Oh, not the time for this? Okay, I see how
it is.” I laughed. I held out my hand. “You just had
to ask.”
