Chapter 1
I don’t remember much from second grade, but I do remember one thing. One important thing that I will never forget. It was me and Jacob. We were best friends. For second grade we had different teachers so the only time I saw him was when we both had recess or at lunch.
My class was just getting dismissed to go to recess. When we walked out of the doors I felt the nice cool autumn breeze. When we stepped foot on the playground I ran straight for my favorite swing so no one else would use it. I loved the way my blonde hair flew around when I swung. With every pump of my legs I was going higher and higher. I felt like a bird, like I was flying.
We were the only class out on the playground at the time. About five minutes after we got outside I saw Jacobs’s teacher walking out the doors being followed by her students. As always Jacob was one of the first kids out of the doors. As soon as he saw me he started running for the swing right next to me.
When I saw him I stopped pumping my legs and I dragged my feet on the woodchips so I would slow down. “Hi Evelyn!” He looked at me and smiled as he said hi to me. “Hey Jacob!” I smiled too. I wasn’t swinging anymore because Jacob and I were talking. “I’ll be right back, okay?” Jacob said as he was getting off his swing. “okay” I replied back as he was walking away.
Instead of him keep walking he stuck up behind me and pushed my swing when I wasn’t paying attention. I screamed a little and laughed at the same time. He always messed around with me like that. We always did everything together. We were really close for a couple of second graders. He sat back onto his swing giggling a little and smiling at me.
When I finally stopped I laughed, pushed him and threw woodchips at him. So he threw some back at me. We were laughing and we kept throwing the woodchips at each other until one of the teachers yelled at us. So we stopped and I sat back down on my swing. He stood in front of me. “I really like your eyes Evelyn.” When I was little I had ice blue eyes. Since we were so little that was kind of a big compliment for me. “hehe, thanks Jacob,” I said back to him as I looked down to hide my smile and reddish cheeks.
I look back up and he was still looking at me with his beautiful dark brown eyes. He gave me a hug and I hugged him . When we let go of each other he .. he kissed me. It was my first kiss. it was amazing and I would never forget it.
