I was just remembering.... How happy I used to be. Yeah. I miss those days.
14 Months Of Life Introduction part 1 The crash of thunder the flash of lighting the sound of my radio blaring, this is the only the start of the crazies fourteen months of my life. My name is Jamie Mae Ellis. I am fourteen years old. I have tons of friends, I am great in school, and I have a pretty great family. We live in Kansas. But not in one of those towns like Lawrence (although I love Lawrence) we live fifteen miles from Lawrence, out in the middle of the disserted rural area that I call, home. It’s June; the weather’s just starting to heat up. The grass hoppers are out to play. I sit in the kitchen. The Screen door slams shut with a loud crack. I snap to attention. My five year old brother, Billie, walks in holding one of the kittens from our latest litter. "This is Sandy; she can be yours if you want". I smile and grasp Billie and the kitten in a hug. The kitten purrs softly as Billie places her in my hands. I cuddle her close; her fur feels like silky satin, as I brush it across my face. The smell of fresh lilac floats threw the open windows of our house as the wind blows quietly. “Moms and dad already left for work, Jamie,” says Billie. “Oh, that means it’s just you me and Sandy,” I say. “And all the other kittens and every-thing else in the house,” Billie laughs innocently. I smile and nod my head. I pour Billie a bowl of cereal. Its only nine am. Billie laughs as Sandy leaps for a butterfly floating by the screen door. “What are we gunna do today?” Billie asks me. “Well we got chores to do” I say as he sighs in disappointed. “I feel the same way Billie” I say to him while he eats his cereal “Why aren’t you eating Jamie?” he asks me. I don’t want to tell him why, because the truth is, I cant stand my body size. I wear size two jeans, the perfect figure right? Well I would rather wear size one I just tell him “I’m um not hungry” I would hate him to see his big sister, who he admires and loves, to be so stupid and weak; I couldn’t live with myself if I were to let him down. Billie takes his time eating his cereal, for he dreads the work of the coming day. Billie’s chores are rather easy. Feed the cats and the puppies, sweep the porch, and pick any veggies from the garden. Honestly, I don’t think that is too hard, then again, Billie, is five. I am in charge of feeding the horses, washing the dishes, doing the laundry, cooking lunch, and keep Billie on task. When my mom assigned me this list, I thought it was absolutely, not fair in any way. But now that I have gone through the process of completing my list, I realize its not all that bad, and I finally understand that I’m the one that has to do this because Billie would not be able to complete these tasks simply because his age, and his height. Billie, being five, is rather short. While I, being fourteen, am five foot and two inches tall, and can easily reach the stove. After he finishes, I clean of the table, and we are off to do our daily chores. Billie comes out of his room. He is wearing the adorable suspenders that our grandmother made for him. I laugh at the sight of him walking around, acting like such a grown up little boy. As Billie walks out the old screen door, it slams shut with a crack again. I yell after him, “dang it Billie, I’ve told you to not slam the door!” And in his high pitch little voice he yells, “Whatever Jamie; Your not my boss. I gots not boss” I laughed “oh yeah, well gots isn’t a word” I pause and then continue “It’s I have no boss.” “Whatever Jamie”, is all he replies. I simply laugh. I flip on the faucet. The water streams out in a blast. It hits the bottom of the sink hard and fast, it shoots back at me, my shirt is completely soaked. In my mind I scream but out loud I laugh. Confusing? Yes, I know, I’m a very confusing person, as you will learn. I change into a light blue tank-top that my aunt Jan got me two years ago. And very surprisingly it still fits me. I put on some jean shorts and some cowboy boots. My long sandy blond hair rolls down my back. I walk out side.

We met in kindergarten. We were best friends. She always told me she loved my eyes. I didn't quite know why. I was in love with her, so of course my face lit up immensely whenever she said it. She was beautiful, kind, and extremely funny. We'd be talking about nothing, and she'd turn to me and whisper, "I like your eyes." One day, I was playing basketball, waiting for her to drive over to my house to have a game with me. Suddenly, I got a phone call. It was her mom. She was in a panic. I couldn't quite understand what she was saying. It sounded like, "Aaron, come quick! Kelsey, accident, Main Street! Blood. Come now!" I had no clue what happened, so I ran to Main Street with my basketball shorts and a tee shirt on. I saw Kelsey's mom helplessly crying, waiting for the ambulance to arrive. I saw a totaled car, blood everywhere. Then I saw her, Kelsey. My heart stopped as I frantically ran over to her. "Kelsey? Kelsey!" She was unconscious. I started crying. I know it isn't very manly, but I couldn't help it. Before I could say anymore, the medics took her away, the main source of blood coming from her head. I went to the hospital that night, I went every night. in fact, the only time I left was to go out to eat, but that's it. The doctors tried getting me to leave, but I refused. It was all my fault. If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her, she wouldn't be going through this. It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up. On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
